The art of bathroom organisation

Your bathroom is often the first place you visit in the morning, and the last place you go before you hop into bed at night.

Did you know the state of your bathroom can change how you feel?

Let’s face it—a messy bathroom is the last thing you want to see in the morning.

You can’t find your toothpaste, your makeup case has somehow found its way to the back of your cupboard, and your sink is full of your partner’s hair! It’s all so overwhelming… and now, you’re late for work.

It’s enough to stress anyone out.

By keeping your bathroom organised, you’ll save time and worry morning and night. You’ll get to work on time and, later on, enjoy the refreshing sleep you deserve.

Declutter first—and declutter regularly.

The first step towards a clean bathroom is decluttering.

Spring cleaning, Marie Kondo-ing, whatever you call it—it’s time to get rid of some stuff.

At first, it might feel overwhelming.

Maybe you’ve got drawers full of empty hairspray cans and old makeup (don’t worry, we’ve all been there!)

Never fear—just break the task down into simple steps.

Start with a couple of plastic bags. Toss all your rubbish and empty bottles into one bag, and anything you’re still using in another. Remember to recycle where possible.

Once you’ve got the rubbish out of the way, you can focus on the essentials.

Here’s how it’s done:

  1. Create a “keep” pile and a “donate” pile.
  2. If you genuinely love an item, or it’s a crucial piece in your collection, it goes in the “keep” pile.
  3. If you find an unopened product you’ve been meaning to use but never got around to it, chuck it in the “donate” pile.

Several organisations accept unused makeup and beauty products to help disadvantaged women—so you’ll be doing a good deed for both yourself and others.

Invest in home organisation products.

It’s well worth investing in specially designed organisers to keep your beauty products at bay. Try, for example, plastic compartments in your drawers for separating your makeup products—you’ll never need to worry about losing your favourite foundation brush again!

Your home is your canvas. Make art.

The state of a person’s bathroom often reflects on the cleanliness of the rest of their home.

By keeping your entire home organised, your bathroom will become just one more step in the process.

You’ll think, “The rest of my home is spotless. I might as well sort out the bathroom, too!”

Paint your home with a caring brush, and enjoy your masterpiece.
